For trustees and practitioners

Training & Certification

Trustees are responsible for other people's retirement savings. ZAPF prepares them for that responsibility through the Certificate of Proficiency (C.O.P) and practical short courses.

How to become a certified trustee

The Certificate of Proficiency (C.O.P) follows four steps. Intakes run every quarter.

  1. Step 1: Register for an intake

Register online or through your fund. Registration opens at the start of each quarter.

  2. Step 2: Attend preparation classes

Classes cover fund governance, the legal framework, investments and administration.

  3. Step 3: Sit the examination

The examination is held at the end of each intake on a published date.

  4. Step 4: Receive your certificate

Successful candidates receive the Certificate of Proficiency, recognised across the industry.
